Your adventure begins with a warm welcome and private pick-up from your hotel, port, or airport in Tangier. From here, sit back and enjoy a scenic drive through the majestic Rif Mountains, a region known for its lush landscapes and winding roads.
Arrive in the enchanting town of Chefchaouen, famously known as the Blue City for its strikingly painted walls and tranquil atmosphere. You’ll have the afternoon free to wander the charming medina, visit the refreshing Ras El Ma springs, or hike to the Spanish Mosque for sweeping views at sunset.
Overnight: Stay in a traditional riad nestled within Chefchaouen’s peaceful medina.
Day 2: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Moulay Idriss → Fes – A Glimpse of Ancient Morocco
After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and travel south across fertile plains and gentle hills. En route, you’ll stop at Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in Morocco. Explore ancient mosaics and temples as your guide brings history to life.
Continue to Moulay Idriss, a sacred town perched on twin hills, before heading to Fes—one of Morocco’s most iconic imperial cities. Upon arrival, enjoy a short guided introduction or free time to get acquainted with this vibrant, historical hub.
Overnight: Unwind at an authentic riad within the maze-like medina of Fes.
Day 3: Fes → Midelt → Merzouga – From Forests to the Sahara
Start your day with a picturesque drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the alpine town of Ifrane, often dubbed the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may spot wild Barbary macaques.
Enjoy a relaxing lunch in Midelt before continuing south through the dramatic Ziz Valley, where palm groves and kasbahs mark the landscape. Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon, where your desert experience begins.
Mount a camel for a magical sunset trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, then settle into your desert camp, where dinner is served under the stars accompanied by Berber music around the fire.
Overnight: Luxury or standard desert camp in Merzouga.
Day 4: Merzouga → Todgha Gorges → Dades Valley – Canyons and Kasbahs
Wake early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at camp. Travel by camel or 4×4 back to the village, then journey to Rissani, a historic market town on the old caravan route.
Continue to the towering Todgha Gorges, a dramatic natural wonder with vertical canyon walls popular with climbers. Stroll along the riverbed or relax in the cool shade.
Later, drive to the scenic Dades Valley, where dramatic rock formations and centuries-old kasbahs line the road.
Overnight: Comfortable guesthouse or kasbah hotel in Dades.
Day 5: Dades → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Marrakech – Across the High Atlas
Today’s route winds through the Valley of Roses, famous for its fragrant blossoms and artisanal rose products, and the Skoura palm groves, an oasis of date palms and hidden kasbahs.
Stop to explore the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Then visit Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco,” with an optional stop at Atlas Film Studios or the Taourirt Kasbah.
Cross the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) in the High Atlas Mountains, offering stunning views all the way to Marrakech.
Overnight: Riad accommodation in the heart of Marrakech.
