Essential Information for Your Fes  Desert Tour

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

Depart from Marrakech early in the morning and head towards the High Atlas Mountains. Stop at the Tizi n’Tichka pass to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains. Continue to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its traditional mud-brick ksar.

From Ait Benhaddou, drive to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios.

Next, travel through the Valley of the Roses, and stop at a local rose water cooperative to learn about the region’s famous roses. Finally, reach the Dades Valley, where you will spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad, surrounded by stunning landscapes.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, depart for the stunning Todra Gorges. Explore the dramatic canyon and enjoy a leisurely walk through its towering cliffs. Continue your journey to Erfoud, famous for its fossil products and rich history.

Arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll meet your camel caravan for a sunset camel trek into the Sahara Desert. Experience the magic of the desert as you ride through the golden dunes, and spend the night in a traditional Berber desert camp. Enjoy a delicious dinner, and immerse yourself in the local culture with traditional music around the campfire.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Fes

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara, then ride your camel back to Merzouga. After breakfast, begin your journey to Fes, passing through the scenic Ziz Valley, renowned for its palm trees and stunning gorges.

Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, making a stop in the cedar forests to spot the resident Barbary macaque monkeys. Proceed to Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its charming alpine-style architecture.
