Essential Information for Your Merzouga  Desert Tour

Day 1: Zagora – Tagounite – Erg Lihoudi – Holy Oasis – Erg Chegaga

Your adventure begins with a 10:30 AM pick-up from Zagora, where our driver will take you on a scenic 4×4 journey through the Draa Valley Oasis, the Tizi Anagame pass, and the stunning Ben Selman mountains, often referred to as the “tagine plate cover.”

We’ll continue off-road through the beautiful Oued Naam, passing through forests of acacia and tamarix trees, alongside dry rivers and towering sand dunes. After about two hours of this incredible desert landscape, we’ll stop at a natural oasis for a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Erg Chegaga, where you’ll settle into your comfortable desert camp. Once you’re settled in, a variety of activities await you. Enjoy a camel trek through the dunes, try sandboarding on the golden sands, and climb the highest dunes—over 200 meters tall—for breathtaking panoramic views. Take a moment to meditate and fully absorb the tranquility of the desert, watching the sunset paint the sky over the vast sea of sand.

As evening falls, we’ll return to the desert camp for a traditional dinner, complete with a bonfire, drumming, and the rich sounds of Arab and Berber music. Finally, end your day by stargazing under the crystal-clear desert sky before settling into your tent for a peaceful night.
