Essential Information for Your Zagora Desert Tour

Your adventure begins at 07:00 AM when your driver picks you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. You’ll embark on a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, passing traditional Berber villages and crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged mountain landscape.

The first stop will be at the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning example of traditional architecture and a popular filming location for numerous Hollywood movies. After exploring this historic site, the tour continues towards Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of North Africa,” home to the famous Atlas Film Studios.

Enjoy an optional lunch near Agdz or Zagora, then continue the journey eastward through the lush Draa Valley, known for its vast palm groves, ancient fortified villages, and dramatic desert landscapes. Along the way, stop in Tagounite to purchase a traditional Saharan turban, perfect for your desert experience.

Arriving at Ouled Driss, you’ll exchange your vehicle for a camel ride to take you across the stunning Erg Lihoudi dunes. As the sun sets over the desert, you’ll experience the tranquil beauty of the Sahara, before heading to your luxury desert camp.

At the camp, enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by a peaceful overnight stay in a private tent in the heart of the desert.

The journey back begins as you drive through the picturesque Draa Valley, where you’ll discover the hidden gems of the southern region. Continue the journey towards Ouarzazate, where you’ll visit the historic Kasbah Taourirt, one of the most iconic landmarks of the area.

An independent lunch will be served in Ouarzazate, before the tour continues as you drive back towards Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains, retracing your scenic route. You will arrive in the Red City in the evening, where your unforgettable desert adventure comes to an end.
